Sarpanchs go on Kerala tour

Kakinada, Jan 20th: Zilla Parishad Chairman Ch S Venugopalakrishna today flagged off the bus taking a team of 33 Sarpanchs of East Godavari District on a study tour of Kerala. The team, during its five-day tour till January 25, would make a comparative study about the functioning of the village panchayats in Kerala and here with reference to the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendment Acts.

The Sarpanches would also study the village sanitation, drinking water facilities, style of functioning of local bodies and conducting village panchayat meetings. Also, the  conditions of roads, infrastructure facilities, schools and hospitals in the villages would also be studied. The extension training center at Samalkot is organizing the study tour. The ZP chief executive officer, Mr. B. Bhavani Das was present.
