Samaikyandhra Fire in Kakinada

The Samaikyandhra Activists observed the second day of their 72hrs general bandh in Andhra & Rayalaseema regions, against the decision of Congress to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh, here on Thursday.

A huge number of students, employees, traders, political supporters and people from the city, walks of life came out on streets on the second day in support of Samaikyandhra. Huge agitations were placed on the second day bandh, blaming the Congress party for division of the state.

Bandh was observed and shops, schools, government offices, banks and all other commercial establishments remained closed in the city.

Students formed human chains in several places. Taxi Drivers and Owners association took out a huge Car rally in the city. Employees JAC laid siege to the house of Stamps and Registrations Minister Mr. Thota Narasimham, demanding his resignation.

Traffic was blocked due to rasta rokos. Agitators pelted stones at State Bank of India and Andhra Bank offices in the city, demanding window panes. Movie Theater owners stopped noon shows. RTC services stopped in many of the major areas.

Congress workers also supported the bandh and staged rail roko. They had stopped Seshadri Express Train at Kakinada Railway station for half-an-hour.  

The agitators at many places burnt effigies of Sonia Gandhi and also smashed the statues of Indira Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, demanding UPA Government to withdraw bifurcation decision. According to this, the police came into action and arrested 19 agitators for damaging statues.

Responding to this, Anaparthi MLA Mr. Sesha Reddy announced his resignation. Speaking on this, he stated 'I support Samaikyandhra'.
