RTC suffers Rs 3 crore loss

Kakinada, Dec 18th: With the ongoing agitations and stirs against the centers decision for a separate T-state by the professional and representatives of various organizations in the last few days the APSRTC is suffering a loss of Rs 3 crore in both East and West godavari districts. Political parties, cutting across party lines, along with several students unions from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema, started agitations by not allowing RTC buses to ply while several commercial establishments , trade centers, banks and educational institutions remained closed affecting normal life.

It is estimated that the RTC is losing revenue worth Rs 50 lakh everyday. The East Godavari RTC regional manager, Mr. Y. Jagadish Babu, said that the RTC has incurred a revenue loss worth Rs 3 crore so far. He appealed the agitators to exempt the RTC as it helps commutators reach their destinations safely at time of crises. In West Godavari too, the RTC has incurred a revenue loss of Rs 2 crore, on an average, it is losing revenue ranging between Rs 35 lakh to Rs 40 lakh per day. A few of the buses were also damaged during the Telangana stir.
