Rs 30 lakh worth crackers seized

Kakinada, Oct 2nd: A man was arrested by the cops for illegally storing the firecrackers in his house that worth Rs 30 lakh on Friday. Police raided the house of the trader A. Raghuramaiah at Temple Street and recovered Diwali fire crackers from him and later arrested him and seized the house. According to the police, Raghuramaiah was engaged in selling fire crackers for the last 30 years. He imports the products from Sivakasi in Tamilnadu and sells them here gaining huge profits.

As usual, this year also he imported nearly Rs 30 lakh worth of fire crackers on the eve on Diwali and stored them in his three storied building at Digumartivari Street. A team of police headed by Deputy Superintendent of police, Mr. Achyuta Rao, raided the house on Friday evening and found bulk of crackers stored in the top floor of the building. Following the directions from the superintendent of police, Mr. Y.Nagi Reddy, the seized crackers were shifted to a safe place elsewhere in the town and seized the house. A police case was registered. Investigation is on.
