RMC to get more PG seats

Kakinada, Feb 1st: As per the recent decision taken by the ministry of health and family welfare of increasing seats in Post Graduate Medical courses at the government medical colleges across the country, the local Rangaraya Medical College (RMC) got 32 more seats. At present the college is being run with 80 existing seats. Out of the 29 courses the seats of only 14 courses were increased. However these seats will be available to students from the academic year 2010-11.

Speaking to media here on Monday, the RMC principal, Dr. R. Pratap said that the Center was interested on increasing the seats and the Medical Council of India collected information on teaching faculty and the number of existing seats in government medical colleges in the country. After considering the information furnished by the colleges, the MCI recommended the increase of PG course seats in various PG colleges including the RMC, the principal added. In order to encourage more number of students particularly poor and meritorious from rural and urban areas, the government took the decision of enhancing the PG seats, he added.
