Kakinada, April 9th: Aiming to provide franchise to every eligible adult, district election authorities has made various arrangements for voter registration by providing several counters in the district. The youth turned out in huge numbers and enrolled their names. With this the total number of voters in the district was raised by 17,000. According to the previous list the total number of voters was 34, 00,437. Out of these 17, 23,336 are female voters and 16, 77,091 are male voters.
With the fresh enrollment of voters done in the last two months the number reached to 34, 17,155. Out of this total 17, 29,357 are female and 16, 87,798 are male voters. Of this total 847 (556 are men, 291 are women) are going to cast their vote through postal ballot. According to the information provided by the East Godavari district collector 9,700 electronic voting machines will be kept for use in the district for both the phases, on April 16 and April 23. Total of 3,899 polling stations are arranged.
