Rich tributes paid to Gandhi

Hyderabad, Oct 2nd: Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari and Chief Minister Konijeti Rosaiah on Friday led the state in paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 140th birth anniversary at Bapughat here. Pradesh Congress President D.Srinivas, Legislative Council Chairman A. Chakrapani, Assembly Speaker N.Kiran Kumar Reddy, Cabinet ministers, legislators and Parliament members also paid tributes to the Father of the Nation on the day observed as Gandhi Jayanthi and international day of non-violence.

The leaders also paid their tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 105th birth anniversary. The Chief Minister, who visited the Bapughat, later garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the assembly premises and also at the party headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan here. Mr. Rosaiah also paid rich tributes to the former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on the completion of one month of his demise in a helicopter crash at Pavuralaagutta in Kurnool district on September two.

The other leaders, including cabinet ministers, PCC President D Srinivas, Parliament members, including K.V.P Ramachandra Rao and several other leaders joined the Chief Minister in paying tributes to the departed leader.
