Principal Secretary to the State Government, Roads & Buildings Department, Mr. S. P. Singh has visited Kakinada and conducted a review meet with respective officials here on Wednesday at Collectorate in Kakinada. Speaking on this, he asked the officials to start the four-lanning project of the Kakinada – Rajahmundry Canal Road widening works immediately. He said that the project with an expected outlay of Rs. 319 Crore is being funded by the World Bank. This was the second project in the State, as the one in Krishna district was also being funded by the same bank, he said. According to him, the project will be completed by June, 2015. He asked Collector Mrs. Neetu Kumari Prasad to complete the land acquisition by 13th of this march and extend the relief and rehabilitation to all those who were losing their lands to the project. He said that there were complaints from 61 persons on being included in the relief and rehabilitation package and sought a report from the District Collector. He said that the road-widening project would reduce the distance between the two important cities in the district and help improving the trade activity. Referring to the other projects, Mr. Singh said that land acquisition would be done for the six-laning of road between Gundugolanu in West Godavari district to Rajahmundry, for which land had to be acquired from 16 villages in the East Godavari district.
