Kakinada, Jan 26th: The 60th republic day celebrations were grandly celebrated in the district. The celebrations took place at local parade grounds here on Monday. East Godavari District Collector Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwivedi has initiated the program by hoisting the national flag at the venue. Later, collector along with the district SP, Y. Nagi Reddy received the guard of honour from NCC, police and home guards.
Addressing the huge crowd, collector recalled the developments made in the district by the state government. He revealed the progress achieved in the areas like agriculture and irrigation. He said that the district stood first in the implementation of the Indiramma housing project and said that the third phase showed good progress compared to the first two phases. Nearly 23, 500 families were benefited by the 3rd phase of Indiramma housing project.
Collector revealed that Rs. 18.47 crore was spent for the development of the roads and drinking water facilities in the district. He also said that nearly 5.52 lakh acres were brought into irrigation with the new irrigation projects taken up in the district. He also revealed the progress done in the implementation of different sectors like Rajiv Arogyasri, medical and health, 108 services etc.,
On this occasion, Collector has honored the freedom fighters like Chodipalli Hanumantha Rao, Thurab Hussain, R. Chakramma, S. Venkateswarlu Naidu, Venkata Suryanarayana Murthy etc. State ministers Mr Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, Mr Gollapalli Surya Rao, ZP chairman, Joint collector Kona Sasidhar and others participated in the celebrations.
