Republic Day was celebrated in various institutions here on Wednesday. Vice-Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada, Prof. Allam Appa Rao hoisted the tri-colour and unveiled the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the University campus. Special Officer of the Andhra University campus, Mr. P. Rajendra Karmarkar was the chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations held on the University campus. Noted dermatologist Vadrevu Ravi was the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations held at Aditya Public School, in which director of the Aditya group, Mr. N. Krishna Deepak Reddy and others were present. Principal of the V.S. Lakshmi Engineering College for Women, Mr. A. Sreerama Rao unfurled the tri-colour on the college premises and the CEO of the VSL group, Mr. V. Sitarama Raju was the chief guest. Gynecologist R. Saraswathi hoisted the national flag at Aditya English Medium School at Jagannaickpur. Lions Vision Club conducted various competitions for prisoners undergoing imprisonment in the sub-jail and donated fiber chairs to the prison.
