District Collector, Mr. M. Ravi Chandra stated that efforts were on to remove the encroachments and the works would be completed very soon observing that violation on the highways were causing road accidents. The District-level Road Safety committee meeting was conducted here on Wednesday. Mr. Ravi Chandra said that Tahasildars of the mandals concerned were issuing notices to those who resorted to setting up shops next to the highways. He said that supply of electricity and drinking water would be stopped to those shops. Mr. Ravi Chandra observed that Peddapuram road, Samalakot flyover, Indrapalem and Pratap Nagar bridge junctions in Kakinada, Stadium Road and VT College Road in Rajahmundry were accident-prone junction. He asked the officials of the Panchayat Raj, AP Transco, Roads and Buildings, Revenue and Police departments to work in coordination to remove the encroachments.
