Kakinada, Aug 10th: The Reliance Industries limited (petroleum division) for the second successive year 2009-10 has donated Rs 1 crore for the Protsaham scheme on Monday. A cheque for the amount was handed over to East Godavari collector Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi by the Reliance K-G Basin operations site head, Mr. P.K Verma. The scheme was initiated by the East Godavari district administration for merit students among the economically weaker sections. Students from these sections were provided financial aid to join Intermediate course of their choice after SSC.
In total, 650 students have been admitted to intermediate courses in various corporate colleges in the district in the last two years. The Reliance Company donates Rs 1 crore every year for the scheme and so the scheme is named as Reliance Dhirubhai Ambani Protsaham Scheme. Collector thanked the Reliance management for extending their financial support for the cause of meritorious students from the poor families.
