Reliance donates for flood hit

Hyderabad, Oct 13th: Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries on Tuesday donated Rs.11.11 crore to flood-hit Andhra Pradesh to help it undertake relief and rehabilitation programmes. Company executive director M.S. Prasad and its Andhra Pradesh coordinator P.V.L. Madhava Rao handed over a cheque for the amount to Chief Minister K. Rosaiah at his office. Speaking on the occasion, CM appreciated the Reliance team for their kindness towards the affected people.

Prasad said the company volunteers had already distributed 2.5 lakh water pouches, about 1.2 lakh biscuit packets, 5,000 kits of ration and utensils to flood victims in Krishna and Guntur districts. "We are also planning to distribute seeds to farmers, remove silt where needed and undertake river gauging in a long stretch with flood marking", he said. Reliance Industries is also providing three meals a day to about 2,800 flood victims at relief camps in Vijayawada city. Besides, 40,000 kg of cattle feed was distributed in the marooned villages of Guntur and Krishna districts.
