Kakinada, Dec 9th: Due to terror attacks in Mumbai the government has put a compulsion on the registration of sailing boats. Fisheries deputy director V.V.S.P.R.V Prasad has declared this in the press meet held at DD office on Monday in Kakinada.
Speaking on the occasion deputy director said that, while registering the boats and issuing the Identity cards a clear check of boats will be made by the Marine, Navy and Coast guards. Fishermen who fails to show their ID cards will not be allowed to go for fishing and will not be provided with consumer good in the ration shops.
The issue of identity cards will start from Wednesday by a committee comprising of officers from Tuni fishing harbour, Kakinada urban, Katrenikona and Razole. “With this registration process a check can be put on the boats which were sailing everyday from the coast”, an officer said.
Prasad ordered the officers to complete the work as the Governor S.D Tiwari was expected to visit the town on 15th of December to participate in the Golden Jubilee celebrations of State Institute of Fisheries Technology (SIFT).
