Recession affects sale of vehicles

Kakinada, Dec 29th: The global recession has greater impart on the sale of motor vehicles. According to the deputy transport commissioner, RTA, Mr. Praveen Rao the total number of motor vehicles that were registered at the RTA in the district till the end of 2009 were 5.65 lakh. Of them 4.75 lakh were in the personal motor vehicles category and the rest all types of commercial vehicles, three and four wheelers etc.

Talking about 2010, the deputy commissioner revealed that as part of the nation-wide program their department was going to organize the 21st Raod Safety Week-2010 celebrations on the theme 'Life is Safe if Driving is Safe' from January 1, 2010. Information regarding traffic rules would be provided to people during the week long programs. So far, several program like essay writing and elocution on rules were conducted for students as part of the road safety week celebrations.
