Kakinada, April 15th: Rampachodavaram Assembly segment reserved for schedule caste is going for polls today. The assembly segment comprises of seven mandals that include Rampachodavaram, Maredumilli, Devipatnam, Gangavaram, Addateegala, Y. Ramavaram and Rajavommangi.
As many as 1.39 lakh voters are expected to exercise their franchise on the day. Among the total that are enrolled in the election rolls, 66,810 are women and the remaining are men. EPIC (Electoral Photo Identity Cards) are issued to nearly 1, 32,690 voters and those who fail to receive the identity cards can produce any of the 13 alternative identification for casting their vote.
The election authorities have set up 196 polling stations out of which 99 are identified as sensitive and 24 as hyper sensitive polling stations. Around 1,298 polling staff are deployed to conduct the polls. More than 552 electronic voting machines are kept in use for both assembly and parliament seats. To organize the polls in a free and fair atmosphere the election authorities have made all the necessary arrangements.
