Indian Mathematician and Autodidact Mr. Srinivasa Ramanujan's 125th Birth Anniversary was celebrated grandly here on Saturday, as the day was also noted as National Mathematics Day. Various Schools, Colleges & other Educational institutions from the district were observed his birthday. All of them paid rich tributes by recalling the great mathematician. Ramanujan was a prodigious Indian mathematician, who despite having no formal training in advanced mathematical concepts, mastered trigonometry at the age of 12 and went on to make great contributions to mathematical concepts such as number theory, infinite series and continued fractions. He was a genius in Mathematics. In December 2011, in recognition of his contribution to mathematics, the Government of India declared that Ramanujan's birthday (22nd of December) should be celebrated as National Mathematics Day every year, and recently it was declared that 2012 year is an National Mathematical Year.
