Kakinada, Jan 6th: In the memory of the former prime minister Late Rajiv Gandhi, Rajiv cricket tourney was going to be held in the district. The competitions will start from 9th of January, 2009 and continue till 14th January. This program was organized by District Yuvajana Congress to encourage the talented cricketers in the district.
In this consider a meeting was held at district congress office on Tuesday. District congress president and Zilla Parishat chairman, Mr.Venu took part in the meeting and participated in the draw that was taken under this program. Speaking on the occasion he revealed that 21 teams will be participate in this tourney and all the teams will be named under the names of schemes that were taken up by the congress party.
District Yuvajana Congress president, Mr. M. Mohan also took part in the meeting. He said that the competitions will be held in the J.N.T.U and R.M.C grounds. He also said that, all the 21 teams will be divided as pool A and Pool B. Every day two teams from each pool will compete and the final match will be held at RMC grounds on 14th January.
The team members will be selected by the concerned Yuvajana Congress in charge in the particular constituency. Mr. Venu said that every day cash prize will be given to the Man of the Match awardees and the final winners will take part in the national wide competitions that will take place at Hyderabad on 25th of January.
