Mainroad, Bhanugudi jn, Balaji cheruvu center, Kalpana center, Big market, Chinna Market & other areas in Kakinada were water-logged due to heavy rainfall here on Tuesday. While the drains overflowed in these areas, water entered several houses posing hardships to the people. Water was stagnant at Yetimoga, Bapuji nagar, Dummulapeta, Sanjay nagar, Parlovapeta and other areas causing hardships to residents as well as motorists. These areas get water-logged frequently due to encroachments of drains preventing flow of water. All the shops, commercial establishments and cinema halls wore a deserted look. There were not many transactions in banks and the public movement was very less in government offices including the district Collectorate. Sources said, Kakinada urban and rural mandals registered the highest rainfall of 48.4 mm each on Tuesday.
