Visakhapatnam, July 15th: The Department of India Post, Visakhapatnam Region, comprising four districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari, would soon provide railway ticket reservation facility to the public. A communication from the Head Office to identify post offices for extending such facility to the public was received by the regional office here a couple of days ago.

According to authorities, certain guidelines would be kept in mind while deciding the post offices where such facilities would be provided. Places with tourist importance like Araku, pilgrim centers such as Simhachalam and areas where no such facility is provided by the railway authorities would get priority in deciding the place. For providing this facility, the post office should have facilities like computer, internet etc.

This region has a large network with 16 head post offices, 397 sub-post offices and 2,390 branch post offices and the proposal which is likely to materialize within two months, would go a long way on helping railway commuters.
