Kakinada, June 16th: Three shops were sealed for violating the specifications issued by the administration during the surprise visits made by the collector for civil supplies, Mr. Kona Sasidhar on rice outlets on Tuesday. The team led by joint collector included district supply officer B.Yesuratnam, Kakinada RDO G.C Kishor Kumar, grain purchasing officers P. Ravikiran and Udaya Bhaskar.
The official conducted raids on outlets in Ramaraopeta, Gandhinagar, Pratapnagar and other areas in the town. They found violations including high prices, sub standard rice being sold at high prices, sale of brand varieties at Rs 33 per kg when the rate fixed by the administration is Rs 26, non processing of FGL for the sale of rice, non display of price boards and others.
JC ordered to seize three shops for violating the norms and asked to register criminal case on the owners of the particular shops. A detailed enquiry will be conducted on this issue, he said. JC asked the public to lodge complaints on price and quality of rice through phone number 6454341 if any irregularities were found.
