Kakinada, March 19^th: East Godavari district joint collector and returning officer of Amalapuram constituency, Mr. Kona Sasidhar ordered to book cases on those who run unauthorized liquor outlets. A meeting was organized by him at his chamber on Thursday. Officials of excise and police department attended. Various issues relating to closer of unauthorized liquor shops, arrangement of strong rooms for EVM’s, giving training to polling officers, issuing voter identity cards and other were discussed.

Speaking to the officers he asked them to conduct raids and close down all belt shops in the district by March 22. He warned to take action on them if any belt shops exists in the district after the due date. He said that closure of such shops will help the authorities to conduct polls in a free and fair atmosphere. He asked the police officials to take severe action on those who try to violate the model code of conduct. He also asked them to keep a close tab on illegal transport of liquor from Yanam to East Godavari district. He gave suggestion in conducting training classes for polling officers and assistant polling officers. DRO M. Mohan Rao, Returning officers attended the meeting.
