Deputy Inspector General (Eluru range) Mr. Mahesh M. Bhagawat said that police are working with an objective of imparting confidence among the common man that he could take the help of the police without any fear. The police would always encourage good citizens to render their services to society he added. Addressing the half-yearly meet of the district police here on Saturday, Mr. Bhagawat called upon the police to take stringent action against those, who abuse women and children and run brothels. He advised the police to focus on protecting the girl child. District Collector Mr. M. Ravi Chandra called upon the police to bring in confidence among the public that the police were there to help them. He said the police were expected to be friendly with the public and assure justice to them. Superintendent of Police Mr. G. Srinivas said they were receiving a good number of applications from the public seeking gun licenses. He said the licenses would be issued only after proper verification of the certificates of the applicant.
