Problems of Mid Day Meal Workers

There are 3,600 mid day meal agencies with 8,107 women workers for 4556 schools in the District. These women workers are facing many problems, even though their salary is only Rs.1000, Rs.250 which is the share of state government is not being payed to them since six months. Out of 3,600 agencies only 1,400 are provided with gas connection, all the other agency workers and school children are facing many problems with the smoke while using firewood for cooking and firewood has also become very expensive, they added. Atleast, they are not provided with bank loans to get gas connections. Mid Day meal oraganisers were glad that, organising fund has been increased to some extent and as funds has been released for the construction of sheds for cooking. They requested to take steps immediately for the constructions of these sheds.
