Hyderabad, Sep 7th: The Centre on Monday accepted the State Government's recommendation to hand over the probe of the chopper crash that killed chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and four others to the CBI. After a meeting with state Home Minister P Sabitha Reddy and others, Chief Minister K Rosaiah said the government was determined to find out what caused the mishap. Reddy said Union Home Minister P Chidambaram had agreed to the state's request to order a CBI probe.
She also said the government would constitute a two-member committee with the former IPS official, Mr. M.R Reddy, an expert on VVIP security and Mr. H.S Kola, former director general of civil aviation to probe the crash. The report will be out in two months. Reddy said that there were doubts in people's minds about the mishap. "We want to find out what happened and put it before the people," she said. She said that questions were being raised whether the helicopter had an Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT), ATC is being accused of negligence and security officers are being blamed for allowing the chief minister to take off in bad weather. "These doubts and questions shall be answered by the probe," she said.
