Kakinada, Feb 9th: Operation Swagruha taken up by Telugu Desam to win back party leaders who deserted during last year's elections has picked up momentum in East Godavari in the new year. Leaders from the Praja Rajyam (PR) want to return to the TD fold under this program. Eleven municipal councilors under the leadership of Chikkala Ganesh want to return under the leadership of former minister and state PR political affairs committee president Dr. Metla Satyanarayana Rao. It is said that Rao will be joining the parent organization after February 14.
Among others in the area, Nimmalayala Jaggaiah Naidu has already rejoined the TD on February 3 in the presence of N. Chandrababu Naidu. In addition to the 11 municipal councilors of Amalapuram, many more desertions are expected from the PR in the very near future. It is said that Mr. Kudupudi Suryanarayana Babu, a prominent BC leader who unsuccessfully contested from the Mummidivaram Assembly seat on behalf of the PR, is also expected to rejoin the TD.
