Portal on temple properties

Bhimavaram, Sep 8th: The endowments assistant commissioner, Mr. V. Satyanarayana, announced that the details pertaining to the properties of temples were going to be posted on a website in West Godavari. Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, the assistant commissioner said that there were 1,596 temples in the district and added that efforts were on to collect details of their properties. He said that details pertaining to lands, gold and silver ornaments of temples were already computerized and all information would be posted on the portal coming up shortly.

The assistant commissioner said that the temples in the district had 14,000 acre land and the endowments authorities were getting good revenue from these properties. Mr. Satyanarayana said that some lands belonging to temples were in legal tangles and efforts were on to sort them out. He also assured of efforts to improve security arrangements at temples to ensure safety of valuable there.
