Kakinada, Jan 22nd: In a view to encourage the poor and meritorious BC students, the state government had introduced fee reimbursement scheme a few years ago. All the BC students who come under below poverty line are eligible to get the benefits of the scheme. But, in East Godavari, the beneficiaries are expressing dissatisfaction over the scheme as the department could reimburse only 12 percent of the tuition fee of all eligible BC students for 2009-10. Students allege that the district administration is giving less priority for the welfare of students, as the officials were maintaining that they could reimburse the fee only after the sanction of the budget.
According to sources, the BC welfare department has to reimburse a sum of Rs 15.35 crore, the tuition fee of all 32,175 renewal students for this academic year. But it could only reimburse 12 percent of it which is worth Rs 1.85 crore. Besides the department has also to reimburse he tuition fee of around 30,000 fresh students, which amounts Rs 27.22 crore.
