Hyderabad, June 12th: The state government has decided to increase the tuition fees for polytechnic and diploma courses from this year. The orders to this effect were issued on Friday. “The decision was taken as per the recommendations of the committee constituted under the chairmanship of the secretary, State Board of Technical Education. The hike was necessitated to improve infrastructure facilities on colleges to provide quality education for students.” said Mr. Asutosh Mishra, principal secretary higher education.
The fee has been hiked in all the government, aided and private polytechnic colleges. While the fee for polytechnic courses in government and aided colleges has been increased from Rs 3,300 to Rs 3,800, it was hiked from Rs 12,500 to Rs 15,500 in private colleges. The fee for diploma in pharmacy courses in government and aided colleges has been raised from Rs 3,300 to Rs 3,800 and incase of private colleges it was hiked from Rs 15,000 to Rs 17,000. The decision on fee hike for other professional courses like engineering, MBA, MCA and B.Ed is expected on June 20.
