PM holds first cabinet meeting today

Hyderabad, May 29th: The first cabinet meeting of the expanded union cabinet is scheduled to be held on Saturday. Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh’s brand new team on Friday took charge of portfolios and set out priorities. The cabinet meeting is expected to finalize the President's address to the joint sitting of Parliament on 4th June. The address will unveil the government's agenda for the year ahead in tune with the policies and programmes of the ruling party and its allies.

 

Mr. Pawan Bansal, the parliamentary affairs minister who took charges on Friday assured the Opposition that the government will give full consideration to its view points and sought the cooperation for the smooth running of the parliament. The union petroleum minister, Mr. Murali Deora declared that the government was actively considering deregulation of auto fuel prices. He declared to take decision in this regard by the cabinet. Mr. Kapil Sibal, who took over the HRD ministry, said he would look into the implementation of OBC reservation in private, unaided educational institutions.
