Kakinada, Sep 17th: The district administration has taken up an action plan for cultivation of horticulture crops under the newly launched Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana at a cost of Rs 3.77 crore. The main objective of the scheme is to encourage farmers to grow horticulture, for which they will be provided the necessary assistance which include farm inputs at subsidized costs and support services for a period of three years.
East Godavari district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi discussed the modalities of RKVY in a meeting with the concerned officials a few days ago. He instructed that due importance should be given to rejuvenating the existing crops and creating the required infrastructure. Farm equipments like weed removers and sprayers will be distributed to the farmers at subsidy to minimize costs. Emphasis is being laid on modernization of which received good response in recent times, the Collector observed. Assistant Directors of Horiculture Bhagya Lakshmi and B. Subrahmanyam and Joint Director for Agriculture T. Nandaiah are coordinating the implementation of RKVY.
