Union Minister of State for Defence, Mr. MM Pallam Raju stated that he would put efforts to start Passport Office in Kakinada very soon. Minister participated in the inaugural function of two-day passport mela here on Sunday at JNTU Auditorium. There was huge response from students and people across the district in this mela. Total 7,000 applications were distributed and 3000 applications were kept available. Minister Thota Narsimham stated that with the forwardness of Minister Pallam Raju, this mela is being conducted for 2nd time in Kakinada. Minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar suggested that conducting such melas in all districts would be good. Passport Officer Surendra Babu has already agreed to conduct passport mela in West Godavari district in September, he added. District Collector, Mr. M.Ravi Chandra stated that all necessary arrangements have been made for the candidates in this mela. Total 16 normal and 8 special counters were arranged. Sp Trivikram Varma stated that total 100 police personnel and 100 NCC Cadets were on duty. Pitapuram, Tuni MLA’s Vanga Githa, Pantham Gandhi Mohan, Kurasala Kanna Babu, Raja Ashok Babu, AJC B.Ramarao and other officials were present.
