Kakinada, Feb 25th: All the major political parties are neglecting women and giving preference to men in polls. Even though there are many ticket aspirants among women the parties are showing interest to allot tickets for men ignoring the women. This situation is likely to repeat again in the forthcoming elections for both parliament and assembly. Despite of the promises made by various political parties saying to allocate good number of seats to women the words turns no results. In 2004 general elections only one woman was accommodated by congress and three by TDP. While the Congress candidate won the assemble constituency all the three TDP members lost the polls.

Keeping in view the chances of success, the ruling party Congress, opposition party TDP and the new entrant Praja Rajyam Party are not inclined to take any risk. Sources reveal that this time there are three women aspirants for MLA tickets from congress party. The three women are Ms Rajeswari Devi, Ms. M Rajeswari and Ms. K. Sobha Rani. TDP party is likely to accommodate Dr. G. Varalakshmi from Rajole constituency. The decisions are still to come from PRP. Dr. Alluri Vijaya Lakshmi, state working committee member of Loksatta party came down heavily on the political parties stating that even thought the parties declare 33 per cent reservation to women they hesitate to allocate even 2 percent of seats.
