Panther beaten to death

Rangampeta, April 15th: A three year old panther was beaten to death by the villagers when it entered into human habitations between Subhadrampeta and Doddigunta villages of Rangampeta Mandal in East Godavari district on Wednesday. The panther entered into human habitation from nearby forest for water.

 

Pather attacked on a villager who went to drink water. He escaped from the place and informed the same to the other villages. They started throwing stones on it. The enraged panter attacked on a boy and Thota Raju. Both of them sustained serious injuries and were shifted to hospital for treatment. Villages chased the panther and beat it with sticks and other agriculture instruments to death.

 

DFO Mr. Venugopal, Kakinada forest range officer Mr. M.V Prasad reached the incident place and took the body of the animal into possession for conducting postmortem. With the suspicions raised by the villagers about the existence of another panther in the village the forest department is making thorough searches in the area.
