The Labour Department has ordered the Industries, Companies and Private Organisations to provide paid holiday for the workers on the day of Gram Panchayat Elections polling. According to the Andhra Pradesh Shops and Establishments Act 1988 under 31(2), all companies, industries, shops and other organisations in the state should provide holiday for the workers to utilise their vote right in the respective polling days. Instead of that day, the organisation can utilise the service of that worker in any other holiday, as the department declared.
