Rajahmundry, Aug 21st: Even the state government has introduced the online system of submission of applications for getting scholarships and renewals, the students are facing hardship in getting their post-metric scholarships following several teething problems in the new system. A large number of students led by various students unions took out rallies, conducted demonstrations and submitted representations to officials seeking their intervention to get their scholarship.

As the online submission of applications forms for getting post matric scholarships was introduced last academic year, students, managements of educational institutions and government machinery are finding it difficult to upload data containing thousands of names of students, getting the amounts sanctioned, posting the sanctioned amounts to the individual accounts of students and operating accounts by students to withdraw money.

As many as 30,000 students were enrolled for the online process in East Godavari in the last academic year from the social welfare department and nearly Rs 25 crore was sanctioned to them. In the present academic year there are nearly 22,000 applications for renewal and the last date for renewal of applications is said to be August 24 with the authorities expecting thousands of fresh applications.
