Rajahmundry, Nov 28th: The Government has started to give scholarships through online to intermediate students to avoid the irregularities in issuing them. Government has made a proposal to issue the scholarships from very beginning of the academic year, but due to the tie-ups with educational institutions and banks it could not do so, as it requires co-ordination.
Students have to submit their applications through online seeking the scholarship. Welfare authorities have helped the students in doing so as many of the students were not aware of computer skills to browse the internet. Online submission of applications has taken hardly two to three days and reduced a lot of burden to the authorities
Welfare authorities has made tie-up with Andhra Bank, State Bank of India, State Bank of Hyderabad for opening the accounts for students. Tribal Welfare Deputy Director Mr.B.Mallikarjuna Reddy said that, Students need not maintain minimum balance and no charges will be levied on them regarding their transactions in the accounts. He also said that with online procedure discrepancies can be avoided.
