Hyderabad, June 23rd: Taking the total number of swine flu confirmed cases to 16 in the city, a 30 year old woman who flew in from New York was tested positive for swine flu. The infected woman is the wife of a 32 year old software engineer who was earlier tested positive, said Dr. S.V Prasad, superintendent of the AP Chest Hospital. The couple reached city on June 13 by the Air India flight AI 140 from New York and later developed symptoms of the flu.
Results of other two passengers are still to come. One is a 23 year old MS Computers student who reached the city on Sunday night by a Lufthansa Airlines flight LH 752 from London and the other is a 15 year old girl from Hong Kong who came to the city on June 19. Meanwhile the officials still have no clue on where they sent the 11 pig samples from the city for swine flu tests. While GHMC officials say the samples have been sent to the Pune based National Institute of Virology, officials of VBRI contend that pig samples are tested only at Bhopal-based India’s High Security Animal Disease Laboratory.
