Hyderabad, Sep 11th: Officers of the Andhra Bank, owing allegiance to All India Andhra Bank Officers Federation (AIABOF), stayed off work on Friday to protest against alleged harassment by the management, partially affecting the functioning. According to sources, 80 per cent of the officers, numbering 6300 throughout the country, participated in the strike. However, the branches were running with limited staff. The bank's 790 ATMs across the country were functioning as usual, catering to the cash needs of the customers.
In Vijayawada, AIABOF Assistant General Secretary S Lakshmi Prasad said the Federation has served the strike notice on the Management for resolving the unions issues which included transfer of Branch Managers/Officers without caring about the existing transfer policies, denial of availment of leave on genuine grounds, harsh punishments, working on sundays/Holidays, shortage of manpower, ill-treatment of Branch Managers in review meetings and delay in acquiring officers' quarters, non-revision of monetary ceilings of furniture items and non-extension of staff Incentive Scheme to all the staff members.
All India Andhra Bank Award Employees Union Vice President S Satyaki Prasad said the Management was attacking the genuine Trade Union Rights of the workers. He threatened the management against joining the strike along with AIABOF on September 29 if their demands were not met.
