Kakinada, Dec 24th: East Godavari district officials are imposing the Revenue Recovery Act on beneficiaries of bank loans who failed to repay the amount they had taken under various welfare schemes. Official sources said that the Act was first used on beneficiaries of the Pavala Vaddi loan scheme, and a notice was already issued to one loan facilitator who misused nearly Rs 4 lakh and failed to repay the amount.

According to official sources, the district set a target of sanctioning Rs 934 crore to beneficiaries of self-help groups (SGH) through 223 branches of various banks in the district. Over the last nine months, nearly Rs 205 crore was sanctioned to them . In a recent meeting, the collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi directed officials to reach the target as early as possible and instructed them to sanction at least Rs 54 crore per week.
