Hyderabad, April 2nd: The chief election officer, Mr. I.V Subbarao directed all the district collectors to uncover the portrait of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on 108 ambulances. With the complaints received by the election commission from the opposition parities about the display of the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi on the 108 services as it would amount to violation of code, the authorities gave a clarification on the same saying that the restriction on display of the photographs of the political leaders would not apply to historical personalities.
Finance minister, Mr. Rosaiah met the CEO, Mr. Subbarao and submitted him a copy of the Election Commision directive about the same and alleged that complaints against the great personality like Rajiv Gandhi are a great insult. He also condemned the allegations made against them about the distribution of money to the beneficiaries of Indiramma housing program. He made it clear that the government has taken the decision a long back to involve self help groups in payment under various welfare schemes.
