Kakinada, Nov 21 : The growing popularity of digital libraries would not affect the vital role of disseminating knowledge by the conventional libraries, said General Secretary of AP Library Association, Ravi Sarada. Participating in a seminar on 'Introduction of modern technology in conventional libraries', organised by the Readers Forum of Ideal College of Arts and Sciences here yesterday, Dr Sarada said, ''Digital libraries would help in preservation of books for a longer period but the use of conventional libraries in no way will be affected by them.'' ''The conventional libraries would continue to play a constructive role in information system that is guiding the world'', Dr Sarada said.
G V Krishnamraju, Principal of Ideal College of Arts and Sciences, said the role of libraries was pivotal in spreading knowledge, process of language development and for improving the moral and ethical values among people. Other panelists present at the seminar were Dr D V Ramamurthy, Principal of Ideal Engineering College, Chinthapalli Subbarao, Readers Forum Convenor, PSR Pabhakar, librarian at Aditya Degree College.
