Hyderabad, Sep 25th: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma on Friday announced that the Centre will set up a National Institute of Design (NID) centre here as desired by former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. Addressing a press conference after inaugurating the three-day Indo-Africa Pharma Business meet he said the former Chief Minister has urged the Union Government to set up the Design Centre in Hyderabad, 20 days before the tragic helicopter crash on September 2, in which he was killed.
He said the Union Government had decided to establish four NID centers in the country, in addition to the one already functioning in Ahmedabad. He said the Union Government would set up centers at Hyderabad, Assam and Madhya Pradesh. The government would take a decision soon on the place for the fourth centre. He said the Andhra Pradesh Institute would cater to the industrial needs of the southern states. He said the institutes would help the overall development of the industrial sector.
