Hyderabad, July 17th: The Praja Rajyam Party which contested the previous elections unsuccessfully with rail engine symbol was allocated with new symbol of Raising Sun. The party is going to fight the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections with its new symbol. The Election Commission of India allocated the symbol to PR officially on Friday since it was sought by the party leaders two days ago.

The DMK has reported objection over the allocation of Raising Sun to PRP as the same symbol was given to them. The Election Commission decided to accept the PR’s proposal since both the regional parties belonged to different states. The PR party did not want to contest the GHMC elections with the unlucky symbol. It got the opportunity to select its own symbol as it polled 17 percent of the votes in the general elections.

A soon as the news broke out about the allocation of new symbol, party leaders distributed sweets in the party office. The party president Mr. Chranjeevi felt very happy over the allocation of new symbol and showed confidence to emerge as a major force in state politics. The party has decided to organize more agitations against the steep hike in prices of essential commodities.
