District Collector and Municipal Corporation of Kakinada special officer Smt.Neetu Prasad has said that a 20-year master plan will be prepared for the city within three months. Speaking after going through a powerpoint presentation made by a representative of Hyderabad-based RV Associates here Wednesday, she said that Kakinada is making progress in Education, Industrial and IT sectors. The Kakinada Port will be developed and the Petro Corridor is coming up between Kakinada and Visakhapatnam. An LNG terminal, a hardware park and a mini fishing harbour are coming up in the city. Kakinada is set to become the eight largest city in the state.The suggestions of MLA's and the ZP chairman will also be taken before finalising the master plan, the special officer said and added that the master plan will be prepared in a way that gives no scope for criticism. After Visakhapatnam, Kakinada is the only developed city in the coastal region. The population of the city will go up to 10 lakh in 20 years from the existing 3.5 lakh. The master plan will be prepared taking into consideration an area of 10 km radius from the city. Municipal commissioner S Govinada Swamy said a master plan was prepared for the city in 1975. RV Consultancy Services vice-president Y Raamesh, DSP Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, town planning regional director RK Reddy and RDO Dr BR Ambedkar were present in this programe.
