Each and Everybody are aware that Global Warming is the most terrible effect, which man will face in near future. Students of Chaitanya Engineering College had focused on this and made new invention to overcome this upto little extent. Students M. Vamsi Krishna, M.Sitam Raju, V.Mohan Kumar, MV Subba Reddy, M.Chandra Sekhar, M.Ravi, A. Satish Kumar, V.Kumar are studying Mechanical Engineering at Chaitanya Engineering College, Kakinada. Professors asked to invent some new thing as a part of project work. However, this young team planned to make something different from other students. They planned for one-week to make something useful to environment. Finally, they decided to make a car, which runs with the help of solar energy. When they informed this to Head of the Mechanical Department, he appreciated and encouraged them to go ahead with it. Students were just bookworms before but started browsing internet to gain knowledge for this project work. However, investment was needed to prepare this car and all students were from middle class family. Still they did not loose hope and collected amount of Rs. 30,000/- from their pocket money and from parents. They brought Steering and iron sheets needed for the body part from old iron scrap shops. They had also collected two wheeler tyres, horns and other parts. They had put 45 days continuous effort to complete this project.
Car runs with the help of battery, which works with solar energy. Four tyres and two DC motors were used in this car. They connected small Solar Panel with which 12 Volts of power will be released. Solar battery also releases 12 Volts of power. This energy causes light to glow. Car weighs 110 Kgs and can hold upto 310 Kgs of weight easily. For the battery to be charged completely, 8 hours of solar energy is needed. It can run upto 35-45 Kms per hour after charging for 8 hours. If the size of the solar panel has been increased, there is every possibility to increase battery efficiency, speed and mileage. This young team received many appreciations after competition of project successfully. Few of the corporate companies also offered to pay large amount of remuneration for this model. However, this team was not ready to sell their project but trying to develop and make it affordable for common people.
