Hyderabad, Aug 11th: The state government will set up a government engineering college in Warangal. The new college which will be on the main campus of Kakatiya University and will be operating from the current academic year. The students qualified for Eamcet-2009 can opt for the seats in this new college in the ongoing web-based counseling. There will be four branches with 60 seats each for computer science and engineering, electrical electronics engineering, electronics and communication engineering and mechanical engineering.
After the government has given permission to set up private engineering colleges in the state in 1996, about 585 colleges came up in the private sector, while only eight colleges were established in government sector. Usually merit students opt for seats in government colleges like Osmania, JNTU and Andhra University every year. While the universities are collecting Rs 10,000 towards tuition fee every year, the private colleges are collecting Rs 32,500. Even the hostel accommodation in government colleges is also free.
