Kakinada, Jan 22nd: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (Kakinada) is coming up with grand plans to claim credit for being the first university in the state to introduce several new courses. The JNTU-K vice chancellor, Prof Allam Appa Rao, told newsmen here on Friday that they were making efforts to enter into agreement with several foreign universities to start new courses and added that they were going to introduce grading and credit system in the university.
He said that they were planning to bring in transparency on conduct of examination and also in the evaluation of answer scripts and added that they were contemplating introduction of four types of evaluation of answer sheets including evaluation in presence of students. Efforts were on in introduction of semester system in engineering stream for the first year students and in first semester, English, Maths, Physics and Chemistry would be taught as orientation subjects and they would be given less credits in the evaluation.
The students would take up subjects pertaining to the engineering from the second semester onwards, the JNTU-K VC said and added that they were also planning to introduce self study courses similar to the practise being adopted in foreign countries.
