The Uma Manovikasa Kendram located near Vakalapudi, Kakinada attained National Trust Award by Central Government. The National Trust is an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, set up under the “National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities”. For the year 2009-10, Uma Manovikasa Kendram achieved this award. Mr. Sh.D Napoleon, the Hon’ble Minister of State awarded Rs. 30,000/- cash, a shield and a certificate at the 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was held on the 10th of this month at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, New Delhi. Speaking on this, Executive Director Mr. SP Reddy said that their organization is working for the solace of mentally retarded in 10 districts like Srikakulam, Nellore, Khammam and other districts. Former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam presented the National award in the year 2001-02 and Central Minister Meera Kumar presented the Best Service Award in the year 2005-06 he added.
