In association with District Sports Development Board and Dhyan Chand Sports Club, National Sports Day has been observed here on Monday. National Sports Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dhyan Chand. District Collector, Mr. M.Ravi Chandra participated as chief guest in these celebrations, which were arranged at Dhyan Chand Statue Premises. Speaking on this, Collector stated that, with sports one could learn lessons related to real life. Sports teach how to face problems and how to overcome critical situations, he added. He reminded that he got his admission in Engineering in sports quota. He also stated that its a matter of pride to celebrate birth anniversary of Dhyan Chand as National Sports Day. Additional Joint Collector, Mr. B.Ramarao stated that one can reach great heights through sports. Government is also spending Lakhs of rupees in various schemes for development of sports in villages, he added. District Sports Development Officer, Mr. SV Ramana called upon students to utilize schemes and make Dhyan Chand as a source of inspiration to succeed in sports, he added. Olympic Association Secretary, Mr. K.Padmanabham requested that National Sports Day must be declared as public holiday. Later, in association with Dhyan Chand Club, District Collector Mr.M.Ravi Chandra and Ideal College Correspondent Smt. Chiranjeevini Kumari grandly felicitated PET Seshu Kumari who has been encouraging students in Hockey sports. They also presented prizes to the national level sportsperson in Weight Lifting, Hockey and Skating. Total 50 Cadets participated in the program in the supervision of NCC Officer Ranga Babu. Earlier, District Collector Mr. M.Ravi Chandra, Aditya Educational Institutions Director Deepak Reddy, AJC B.Ramarao offered garlands to statue of Dhyan Chand. In this program, District Olympic Association President YD Ramarao, Former DSDO MA Dheen, Dhyan Chand Club Members Sparjan Raju, Ravi Raju, Ranga, Physical Directors Varma, Syam Kumar, DSA Coaches, sportsperson from various sports were present.
